    "Cat", May Jones Perkins, 12" x 9" x 12", sandstone (limestone?), 35lbs. From my collection. Marked "MJP" on the back of the base.

    This is by a late local artist who passed at age 93 in 2013. It is one of my favorite things. I forgot to ask May what kind of stone it was made from before she passed. The last time I visited her, in her assisted living condo, this was in her living room. After her family moved her far away to a full care facility, they consigned the bulk of the work she treasured most to a local antique store which I purchased it from.

    May worked in everything from fabric, to stone, more mediums than any other artist I've ever known and was expert in all of them. She was a tiny woman, about 4' 11" with an exuberant personality.

    More of her work can be seen on my web site, http://kevindaniel.x10.mx/illinois.html.

      @Toyrebel - May was able to connect with viewers on an emotional level with her work. I am frequently struck by the quality of her work as I walk around my house I have her work, paintings, pottery, sculpture, etc., in almost every room.

      @newfld - She really was!

      @buckethead - Way cool, Man!

      @worthit2 - I wish I had thought to ask her what inspired her on this one. It looks kind of Egyptian, to me.

      Thanks for loving my cat sculpture!
