My mom collected this dog about 30-40 years ago.
I have seen several doorstops (she had several) and I know that the left-facing ones are rarer than the right facing ones.
But I have never seen one like this:
Looks like most of the paint was removed at some point.
The tail is docked. Did people do this to doorstops like they did to real dogs?
The front right foot is missing a digit or two.
Also, the size is unusual - 7" high x 8" wide . 4 lbs 5 oz. Supposedly the left-facing dogs came in three sizes. That would make this the medium sized one. I've just never seem one a left-facing one before.

This poor guy has been through a lot.
Question: Is he circa 1900-40s or a repro?
    Any information would be appreciated.

Oh, he's fantastic!! He is for certain the real deal. He was made by Skoog in the early 1900's. If you want to see more info on this fellow, simply Google Skoog Boston Bull Terrier Doorstop.

He's a really beautiful Boston terrier, so lifelike even with the worn paint area
