I’ve just returned from a holiday in British Columbia and Alberta, fantastic holiday. We hired a RV and set of exploring this beautiful country. Unfortunately we didn’t come across any bears but I did come across this wonderful stone in Banff Alberta, at first I thought it was some type of opal. I asked the sales assistant if they were opals and she said no they were Ammolite, I’d never heard of this stone before so I looked it up online.
I found out that this stone was from a fossilized shell of an Ammonites which lived in the sea 70 million years ago. In 1981, ammolite was given official gemstone status by the world jewellery confederation.
I love the way the stones change colour from different angles.
I will put a link below if you are interested in knowing more about this wonderful gemstone.

    Many thanks for looking

Hi Newfld, yes the colours are amazing on some of the stones, apparently blue, violet and gold are the rarest colours. Thank you very much for your comment.
