Pictured is a jacket worn by a crew member of a river patrol boat which traversed the rivers of Vietnam during the Vietnam war. The jacket belonged to a crew member of River Squadron 5, River Section 533. The original name tape"Palmer" and "U.S. Navy" are still attached, and so are the patches. Many times you will find these tapes removed, as well as the patches. It has the collar patches of a Petty Officer 2nd class, and also has a USN small craft qualification badge. The helmet is the standard issue M-1 model and is painted a navy grey as well as the helmet liner. The helmet has numbers stenciled in green paint on the front, and has the name Red Dog hand painted in green on the rear of the helmet. Both pieces show much use.

Cool piece! Does the BDU have slanted front pockets? I understand those were some of the older pieces used in Nam and Korea.

Congrats!!Nice pieces.the crew were deployed in a Patrol Boat River or PBR, the United States Navy designation for a small rigid-hulled patrol boat used in the Vietnam War from March 1966 until the end of 1971.
