I found this beautifully painted child's chair the other day. I believe it's Quechua or Quichua - depending on where they are from. I think that the depiction on the seat is Inti Raymi - the sun festival celebrated in June. I had the incredible fortune of experiencing Inti Raymi in several villages in Ecuador in 1992. Despite being drunk as a skunk, i'll never forget that magical experience!

I know that it's controversial, but i do consider this to be a 'Native American' piece even though it is from South America.

thank you Watchsearcher. I was down there working as assistant to Luis Macas who is now considered a saint in these villages. every Indian household has his picture on their wall. He was a good friend of mine who introduced me to these villages and he told them to show me a wonderful time - and they sure did!
