    AnythingOb…
    (1778 items)

I had to take this down from the wall for a moment to get the pics of the Maxfield Parrish print just shown, so I figured I should get a few pics and show it up too...? ;-) :-)

This was a prize (for *ridiculously cheap $$* ?!) from a "preview, before the show officially opened" church rummage sale several years ago, which I was fortunate enough to be able to enjoy as a "VIP" since it so happens the only reason I was there (>1Kmi. from home) in the 1st place was because I was part of the crew otherwise installing a new pipe organ for them. ;-) :-) It is only one of several other prize-items I also scored from the same (very large, and apparently a longstanding local tradition) sale, which actually took over half their whole Sunday School wing.

To this day, I sadly don't really know much of anything about what it actually *is*, beyond being an old (1930's/40's?) print (?) in a nice goldtoned wooden frame (a little under 21' x 28") of a big old (French?) cathedral church.

Several years after I brought it home and hung it, a visiting colleague got slightly too-excited when spotting it on my wall -- he not only knew which exact cathedral it depicts, but was of the insistent opinion that it was somewhat more than 'just an old print in an old frame'. As he pointed out (and as I might not have even noticed myself until he did?) the exceptionally detailed image is also ever-so-slightly "colorized" -- the 3rd pic here shows hints of blue sky (upper LH side of the whole) which are the easiest to see, there might also be hints of red elsewhere on it. The color(s) is quite faint whether intentionally or as a result of general age/fading, I don't know that either.

Stupidly, I didn't manage to write down the 'details' he shared with me at the time on a post-it note to stick to its backside, so I've now forgotten both the name/place of the cathedral and the 'style' of the print. I'm gonna mark this "unsolved mystery", in the hopes that all y'all might help me re-learn/remember...???

WOW -- THANKS SO VERY MUCH to mp.kunst for solving my mystery so quickly and completely?!! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

What INTERESTING info at that link you provided!! After looking closely at my print again, it must be one of those "other prints" mentioned near the middle of the article, as it does have the (tiny, and ever-so faint) markings "Published by Edward Gross Co., Inc., N.Y." at the lower LH side of the (~13" x 20") image itself, and "Printed in U.S.A." at the lower RH.

THANKS ALSO to fortapache, Newfld, Caperkid, blunderbuss2, and Brunswick for stopping by and tapping the <love it> button!! I'm glad y'all enjoy this old print too, makes me happy I brought it home in the first place! ;-) :-)

The electronic band 'Tangerine Dream' played live in the 'Rhiems' Cathederal back in 1975. One of my fav bands.
