This 2" camel brooch has a 1" faceted citrine pear shape glass stone & touches of marcasite detailing above stone and on neck, and is marked Reja Sterling on the back. This was part of a sterling-glass stone animal brooch series from the mid-1940s by the NYC jewelry co Reja (1939-1953), co. original name Deja pre-1941

He's a very proud looking little camel- his head is held up so high and proud- maybe because his body just so happens to be a HUGE citrine! And the citrine has a pink tinge which I've never seen before?
I'd walk a mile for that brooch.

Thanks buckethead, yes this camel had other color stones the aquamarine must be beautiful, and this series also had a flamingo, duck etc with stone colors like emerald green and purple. I'm lucky to have found this in pretty good shape for age. Appreciate the great comment!
Lauren I know you are a camel fan and hoped you would enjoy this guy. The citrine is actually an orangy gold, the pink probably came from a dress I was wearing taking the picture, I have to watch the reflections on glass

Yep Ken you got it, pretty expensive, but I thought it's a nice camel design with the unique big stone. You're so right, when the co is only around a few yrs, their pieces have inflated prices. Great comment & astute observ!
Aw Mary thanks for the sweet compliment about my brooches, I do love those the best of all my jewelry though I like earrings too - used to have pierced ears but they fill in over the yrs, so now I'll use my vintage screw back or clips at the next big occasion. Wonderful compliments as always :)
