    The fence wire included in this frame are examples of what is known as "wire board fence". Moving away from the almost exclusive use of wood for fences was a process. Wire is more durable and less expensive. The need to make fencing visible to humans and animals triggered many designs. Some were used as ornamental fencing around yards and cemeteries. Others were provided with barbs and used for farm fencing.
