This is a 1953 Schwinn Streamliner, originally sold, owned and used in Southern North Carolina. To my knowledge, I am its third owner, and it has now been fully restored and is again in regular service for the first time in 50 years. When it was brand new in the 1950s, it would have appeared as it does in the photographs. In about the early 1960s, it was repainted blue and green, and given to a young boy as a present by his father. It was used for a number of years by him and his brother, and was eventually stored away until I bought it 50 years later from that boy, who was now an older fellow. I then restored it, and it is again in service. It is probably just about the oldest bicycle you might see anyone riding around on in my town, so it can be a bit of a head-turner. It sure is fun to ride though, and fast. Sometimes when I go by peoples' houses and their dogs yowl at me, I press the electric horn button to get them going even more! The restoration took several months, and was a whole lot of work but it was very fun to do, and it just shows that even something that is old and worn out can be made new again with a little bit of hard work! That is a principle I believe many folks have forgotten, and ought to again remember and embrace a bit more, like it used to be. Thanks for reading, and have a nice day!

Looks great. I remember them, they were Cadillac bikes, fully loaded with all the options.

Thank you very much for your compliment. I always tell my buddies, "you know, when want something, I always try to go for the deluxe". That's something I like about the older bikes that you can't readily find these days, are all the bells and whistles available on them. Thanks for reading!

Love those old Schwinn bikes. Never was wealthy enough to buy one when I was 12. I worked on a small farm and the owner just paid me a little to have me around I guess. So when I saved up enough I got me a English racer. They just hit the market and were the hot kids bike. That was the start of competition for Schwinn. But till this day the Schwinn is the bike and stood the test of time as a true collector bike.
