At first, I believed this is a small decanter but after some close inspection I believe it is a vase with a small neck. There is no sign that it ever had a stopper. The vase appears to be hand-decorated with lovely flowers and and a golden garland with smaller flowers. I cannot see a pontil mark. The top rim is polished and gilded. The vase is in very good vintage condition.

I have been trying to find out about the origin or its maker but so far I have been unsuccessful.

    Thanks for looking:)

possibly decanter from a tumble-up set; the design looks like it could easily accommodate and upturned tumbler...

Makes sense, TallCakes. I guess I will have to find the tumbler now - not that I needed a reason to go out and look for one, LOL
      Thanks again for your help!

      Looks like late 19th century.

Golgatha, thanks for your comment. I was thinking, too, that it might be late Victorian. In my search of a matching tumbler (because of TallCakes suggestion that it might be a tumble-up set) I found some glasses dating to the turn of the century with a very similar decoration. Too bad that non of them were a matching size.

This is just a guess: I found this perfume bottle. The glass and shape are very different but have a look at the decoration:

      What do you say?

The only thing I can say is that the only thing they have in common is that they might be from the same period of time.

Thanks for your comment, Golgatha. I agree that the two items don't have much in common but, in my humble opinion, the way both are decorated/painted is very similar:)
