I bought two of these plates and have been trying to do some research on them. So far, I’ve seen a couple of plates like them or similar but in different colors, these are done in black and I can’t find any in that color. I have since learned they are Staffordshire transferware and are from around the 1830’s. Any more information on them would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Here's a site that might help. I've always liked Transfer Ware, but I really love the Flow Blue patterns, I think a little older than the Transfers. There's also a CW page on the subject.

I must do some research on what all the different Transfer Ware colours mean, there's a lot of them - green, red, brown, black and more.

All the best, and welcome to CW -

So.....it seems transfer ware is quite a bit older than flow blue. Jeesh, I learn something new every day.

Great examples of early Victorian dishware. This is exciting to see. Thanks for posting.

Thank you Gillian, I’ll check out this site. And thank you Truthordare, it is kinda exciting. I didn’t realize what I had. Paid $2 for them at an estate sale. ;)
