Hi, the dealer I bought these from indicated "civil war era" but another collector indicated such bamboo turnings were more likely post-war. These chairs are very fine/good quality, especially the folding mechanism--marvelous once you get the hang of it. Some research let me to a CW article on Hunzinger, which piqued my interest. The mystery, then, is whether they are likely to be either civil war era (esp. an officer's chair used during the war) and/or Hunzinger. I don't know that he provided war furnishings specifically, but he was manufacturing at the time, and did fashion bamboo(-ish) and folding pieces--and such could have been appropriated for camp use.
