    not really a mask - too small. but it makes a great hook for hanging one of my hats on the wall. i found it at the flea market yesterday. i'd love any info i can get about it. thank you!

      yes Kevin. This is a Hirado ware kimono hook from the 19th century in the form of a Tengu. the only other one know is in the LA County Museum of Art. it was a very lucky find!

      interestingly, Tengu are often used as a protector of forest fires. hmmm....

      i think this piece is from around 1860-70.
