This 8"L glass tiger aka panther was originally designed by Royal Hickman for Heisey ca 1949. The mold went to Imperial Glass in the late 50s, reissued in the 80s, then to Dalzell Viking in the 90s. This frosted yellow glass version is from the National Heisey Glass Museum in Newark Ohio ca 1990s (tag on bottom)

      MRRRRRWW! Great piece :-D
Nearly looks like a Sphinx in pics 2 and 3.
I love the color and satin glass!

He's lovely- His pose makes him look so sleek and feline. Kinda like a cheetah? He looks like he could be the guardian to some ancient temple lost deep in the steamy foliage of some Asian rainforests!

nice one! Fenton made a rosalene set of the Heisey animals, including this one, for HCA in 1992.

      Beautiful slim cat...
Posing like he owns the world..
Love the big cats in any color or shape...this one perfect!
I have to tell you this story...
There was this guy who found a big, young cat on his porch, all muddy and hungry.
Gave him three huge cans of tuna, and then gave him a bath. Seen the picture of him washing his paw,( claws). The "butterfly" and the thickness in this cat's neck was a dead give-a-way. The man thought it was a "Tabby" of some sort. Glad he fed him first!

Looks like a huge gummy bear. The pineapple flavor that is yellowish clear/white.

      I love it.

Thank you so much Toyrebel for the great comment, I'm really glad you liked my big cat here & I agree it's in a classic stretching pose

That's it Pascale, it sort of does have a Sphinx look to it, maybe what the designer had in mind, thank you for the super words & cool observation

Lauren I LOVE your picturing him guarding a temple in a rainforest, that's a wonderful image! I too love to picture these big cats in the rainforests, the panthers and jaguars live there, however our cheetah would be found on the dusty African plains (cheetah is one of my absolute fave wild cats, I will have a new cheetah post in future, hope you like). Very kind compliment and super thoughts

Many thanks TallCakes for the really nice compliment and great info about Fenton, this cat must have been beautiful in their rose pink. This Heisey mold really got around, right! I have a couple more by Hickman for future posts, I get my info from a couple very good glass figure books but they're not perfect, if you know more please drop by anytime I am grateful to learn

Thomas really cool song, wasn't Eye of the Tiger Rocky's training song, the original movie was so cool! Love when you give me a great music line for my post, that's super, thank you so much :)

Lol Eileen, so the guy who fed the young cat was really feeding a tiger cub and didn't know it! I can believe that, but also, isn't it so cruel when people make pets out of wild animals, then when they grow too large they abandon them; don't they realize once they're full grown they are dangerous & can kill, sad. Thank you so much for the lovely compliments about my yellow tiger, you're a great friend & always appreciate the kind words

Thank you Rick for the very nice comment, I can see this tiger as a gummy animal too, make mine lemon lol!

Phil always love your compliments, yes we have to start calling this the Sphinx wildcat, it really has that serene look

Many thanks everyone for the love

HCA acquired the molds c1985 and have contracted with various companies over the years to produce special pieces for the Heisey museum shop. Someone at HCA (Heisey Collector's of America) may be able to confirm who made this and when.
