looks more Islamic/Persian than Chinese to my eye, it is beautiful.
Thanks truth I don’t have any idea but it’s amazing and looks hand painted , it’s unbelievable, I have had it in a box for years and just found it again. I will look at Islamic pots to see what you mean
Been told it is not Chinese by a expert,but they didn’t say what it is unfortunately
Bencharong (Benjarong)
When Bencharong (Benjarong) is used to refer to porcelain it usually means a type of 18th and 19th centuries Chinese polychrome enameled 'five colored' wares, made in Jingdezhen to Thai (Siamese) specifications in the 18th and 19th centuries. The word derives from the Sanskrit panch rang meaning 'five colors', same as the Chinese wu cai.
Seems like a more recent production, the gold enamel is quite fresh and bright, wear is minimal, no patina, which indicates either a retouched piece or a recent piece 20th century piece.
this is a new Bencharong piece made in Thailand. i have several new ones and a couple old ones and really like them alot.
typically, Bencharong pieces are made in China for the Thai [and Nyonya] market, but these new ones are made in Thailand.
