This is the cup and saucer I found with the custard glass jug. The saucer and plate are marked Teck, D M and sons, which I have discovered is a Scottish Pottery David Methven and Sons (It closed in 1928). Teck is the design. I would think they are late Victorian. The cup is a bit discoloured on the base, maybe left on a hotplate!

Naming the design 'Teck' may have been a nod in the direction of Princess May of Teck who, in 1893. married the then Duke of York. In 1910 they became King George and Queen Mary. You may already know this of course.......
That is really interesting, I didn't connect the name Teck with Queen Mary, but I must admit I did wonder where Teck came from! Could help with dating it too.
I think it definitely helps with dating......an early example of shifting product by tapping into the mania some Brits have for a Royal Wedding :)
sklo42 I also thought about a Queen Mary connection. Shame they didn't date them which may have confirmed the association. When did they stop drinking from the large bowls I wonder. They used to pour some tea into the bowl/saucer in order to cool it off before drinking. Beautifully decorated.
Hi Gillian, I think they stopped pouring tea in the saucers a lot earlier than this cup and saucer, probably the early 1800s!
