My father in law obtained this stove from an old farm in Michigan. We are really curious to hear about it's history. Does anyone have any idea?

Garland was in business right up until 1955 when Welbilt bought them out along with the Garland name. They are now located here in Florida and still make grills and commercial stoves. They might have archives to assist you in research. I would say your stove is a parlor stove and probably late 1930's to 40's.
