Black glass H.K. Mulford. Commonly found in amber. Even when held up to the direct rays of the Sun....no color except a faint hint of deep purple. The last photo is of a normal colored one.

      Is it heavily irradiated?

      SpiritBear....
This bottle is as it was dug. Based on another comment you posted, perhaps this batch of glass had a lot of manganese in it. However, as they are almost always found in amber, it seems unlikely as the addition of manganese was meant to produce a crystal clear coloration as opposed to aqua (which is the natural color of glass).

Correct. Natural radiation doesn't leave them so dark. If it was dug up like this, and not put through a hospital-grade steriliser, then it was likely the other chemical additions of the glass itself. Very unusual to be in purple for a utility bottle, though.

Very unusual indeed. I have added a photo of a “normal” colored one.
