Dates early 1800's. British in origin. Measures 5 1/2" in diameter and 1 1/3" wide. It would fit a dog that wears a collar 15" in total length. Condition excellent. Engraved on the collar "S Savage, Weston Point".

The collar has protective spikes to prevent the wearer's throat from attack by wolves and other wild animals while hunting or guarding flocks.

Great antique dog collar, fascinating that they put protective spikes around it
