why do you think that this is gold? could be pyrite, maybe?

Most gold I know of is tiny flecks in quartz. The quartz has to be crushed to get the gold. Pyrites are to shiny. Pure golds from different parts of the world have very subtle diff. hues to them that I used to be able to differentiate. Takes a keen eye & experience to tell.
