OK, first things first, I know absolutely NOTHING about any instruments- I'm not musically talented in any form. This concertina was given to my grandmother as a gift from a neighbour we have who has since passed and as for where he got it from we're not sure.
There doesn't seem to be a lot of information online regarding these instruments but from what I can make out this type may be from the 50s or 60s? It also seems to be in a rather unusual colour which I really like, and apart from some slight damage to some of the buttons, (they don't seem to work properly) there's nothing wrong with it.
It also seems to play very well and doesn't seem like it's ever been used that much. As for what it may be worth I'm also unsure....
Any information regarding this type of concertina or it's value would be greatly appreciated!
What a lovely instrument, I believe it is used in folk music - perhaps your neighbor played music on it. Beautiful marble design on it, wish you luck finding out more from our music experts :)
I am not sure but it might be a child's accordion. I has only a few base buttons. My dad was a musician and traded one of his full-sized accordions for a smaller one for me. It was easier to learn that way. Once I knew how to play, he would put me on stage on a chair and give me his full-size accordion to perform. I had to sit on a chair because it was way to heavy for a six or seven year old girl to carry a full-size accordion. It was also rather funny to see the accordion being played without seeing who played it - nobody could see my head behind the accordion because I was too short! I still play from time to time, but now I have just the right size for me LOL

Thanks for the comment freiheit- that's a really funny image you've just given me! Sort of like an accordion playing itself in a chair. Thanks for the link too- it can be difficult telling accordions from concertinas( at least for me anyway...)
Thanks for the comment Newfld- I usually would associate this instrument with Italian or other European folk music too. The funny thing being was our neighbour wasn't musical either and thought my grandmother was :P but she never asked him where he got it from annoyingly!
Wow- you know your accordions Brunswick! The sound on this one seems a bit off because I do think there is a problem with the buttons or else the bellows but other than that it seems fine. I was correct in assuming this was Italian and from either the 50s or 60s- thanks a lot Brunswick.
I'm impressed Thomas ! I don't think I ever had to say that much to get laid ! LMFAO !! Lauren, don't feel bad. Rap was invented by people who had no musical talent. Breakdancing was invented by ghetto kids trying to steal hub caps off of moving cars.
No problem- it's understandable Blunderbuss2, not to mention relatable, :p
