For years, I've been trying to find info on this single piece I found in a thrift store in Canada.

All I found out was that Po Sein was a popular Burmese dancer in the early 20th century who died in the 1950's. As Burma was once a British colony, it is possible it was made for the Burmese market or perhaps made as a set specifically for his home or wedding?. The mark was in use from 1913 until the '60's I believe
Very pretty design line or pattern. Often these ceramic ware companies would give a name to a design instead of a number, my reference book for this company shows 4 different names on top of the hallmarks.
These do not necessarily have to do with the person or place name chosen, but is an 'inspired by' type of approach favored in early 20th century. Examples with ENGLAND, not MADE IN ENGLAND, date before 1921.
Po Sein is written in Burmese and English above the crown.
vetraio50 - does the presence of Burmese inscription suggest anything of significance to you?
Johnson Brothers have probably hundreds of patterns, many made for specific markets, for example "Friendly Village" was made specifically for the North American market. Older and antiques pieces would have a pattern number , newer (post-war) often had a pattern name above the crown. I think this was made for the Burmese market.

I would say it is a rare piece, but the pattern itself is nothing spectacular, it is this mark which makes it difference. they are still in business, so maybe you can contact them.
