This is a pretty large pail / fire bucket. It's also painted kind of peculiarly. Very wide mouth too. Does anyone know what it's for?

I think you answered your own ?? Water bucket for fires?? I like your Bent wire Bull's Eye ice cream chair in the background I have a few in my shop plus the heart shaped ones
