      Japan information was helpful-- 397th Fighter Squadron.

      WW2 patches are not my militaria focus, but based on what I see of the back and condition; I would think that this is a later piece. Maybe a reunion item?

      If it were mine, I would post it on the US militaria forum for feedback from folks with much more expertise than I have in this arena.
