    Bleak
    (1 item)

My dad received this as payment many many years ago and he has decided to give it to me.

Any information about it would be appreciated!

    Writing on the back says,

In memory of the best of husbands and devoted father. A gift from his children to their widowed mother Jane McLeod. Christmas Day 1863.

It almost appears to lack a photo which the front might have. Welcome to CW.

Thanks PhilDMorris. There is a braided lock of hair which seems to have fallen into the back of the cavity. The photo didn’t capture it very well.

      Thank you Newfld!

It's beautiful! It was probably treasured by the family.
I have seen some identical or near identical on Etsy by entering "1860 mourning brooches".
