I purchased from an estate sale a couple of weeks ago. I was surprised it was real. It was mark as "vintage ring - $27.00" So I thought it was an old brass ring. It was real dirty / tarnished. My friend who was with me, asked me "Are you sure that's not real?" Got home and cleaned it, found the mark, 14K. This ring has small diamonds set in silver, and 8 tear drop shaped cabochons in semi-precious stones, like moonstone, onyx, tiger eye. One article I read pointed out that the 1st letter of the name of the stone spelled out a word. But you have to know the language the used.

You have a nine-gem Thai Princess Ring. I have one similar to yours :)

Since Maltamary gave me the correct identification of what this ring is called I was able to find more info. These rings became popular in the west in the 1940's when US Servicemen were in Thailand, they would send them home to their sweethearts. While in the West specific gemstones are tied to the month of one's birth, in Thailand, each day of the week has a color and appropriate gemstone associated with it:

      Monday Yellow; zircon, moonstone
      Tuesday Pink; coral
      Wednesday Green; emerald, green sapphire
      Thursday Orange; cat's eye
      Friday Blue: blue sapphire, diamond
      Saturday Purple; amethyst
      Sunday Red; ruby

The "Princess Ring", Noppakao is made with nine different gems, set in a circle. It can be worn on any day of the week, and is believed to bring happiness, health and riches to its wearer.
