I received this one eyed bug a little while ago. It is such a pretty bug with the red and yellow enamel and is so nicely done. It has a marking on the back pin. This mark is so small and was hard to photograph. It kind of looks like 750 to me and of course I’m hoping it is, but not sure. I need to go and have it tested. If it does happen to be gold, maybe it’s eye is ruby ;). What do you guys and gals think??

      A BUUUG!!!
I love him, of course ;-))

I can't read what is on the pin, but I'm pretty sure it is gold.
The eye looks (!!!) like a cloudy ruby cab.
If you have an UV torch, examine it under blacklight, it should fluoresce.
      What size is the beast?

Ah, I forgot to say you did a great job, staging it on Edgar Poe book! "Le scarabée d'or" is totally appropriate :-D

Phil, yes, I agree, with the segmented legs it does look a bit mechanical.

Kyra, I do hope you are right ;). I Did put the stone under black light and it did floresce. The bug is probably about 1/2 to 3/4 inch long. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
