This roughly 2-1/2" round tin with close fitting lid used to hold a TAGGER typewriter ribbon, made by MITTAG & VOGLER of New Jersey. The TAGGER name and (nifty!) M&V logo appear on its slightly domed lid, its bottom side also allows which exact typewriter model the ribbon fit into and that it was sold by a store called "WEBER'S" in Galesburg, IL -- also having a few spurious fingerprints presumably of whoever actually *put* said ribbon in their typewriter then kept the metal box. (??)

I don't know how old it is but have to think it is mid 1960's or earlier -- because by then I lived in Galesburg and have *zero* recollection of any stationery/office store there by that name [though I do recall another with a quite different name that was there the whole time I was growing up...) nor do I really remember when or where *I* got it -- it was most likely either "found" in Mom and Dad's writing desk drawer or at Dad's office, one way or the other I've probably had it since the late 70's.

Cool typewriter ribbon box, when I was a typist just starting out in the mid 70s there were still some old Remingtons that used these type ribbons, very nice find AO!

THANKS SO MUCH to: Newfld, purvis, fortapache, and valentino97 for the <loves>!!

Newfld, that's the funny thing -- I also have zero recollection of any REMINGTON typewriter ever actually being 'in the house' -- there *was* one, but it was a portable Smith-Corona machine. (that I still own and already have shown here) Dad eventually had a Remington (electric) machine or two in his office (I have the last one of those someplace around here too...) but that wasn't until the late 70's or so??
