When I found this, I didn't realise it was a Biscuit jar. It looks like it should be a planter or something! It has a relief of a woman on all 4 sides, who is supposed to be Pandora, though she doesn't seem to have much of a box! Made by Sowerby, in amber glass, and it could date from anything between 1910 and 1950?

Gorgeous amber jar - don't open the box Pandora! :)

Good for you that you bought it. It is beautiful even without the lid. I recently saw a beautiful Bohemian piece and didn't buy it because the lid was missing:(

From the 1930’s...this is really uncanny, I went to a consignment store yesterday and picked up this exact sans-lid planter ( I thought) and wondered how I would ever find any information on it. I opened my CW page and there it is. Looked up Sowerby and indeed it is called Pandora’s Box and is shown with a matching lid. Thank you AdeleC.

That’s some coincidence Loumanal! It’s not the most common piece of glass to find. Obviously the lids are a problem. Maybe because there is no rim for the lid to sit in so it falls off more easily.
