Aww CRAP -- lookie what followed me home earlier today from a local Goodwill, after I spotted it there yesterday afternoon but declined its price tag even after the nice checkout lady let me step behind her counter to look a little closer at it. Then I couldn't get it out of my mind so made a 2nd trip back there first thing this morning to look again...during which (store manager?) Bruce was ultimately *ever* so helpful not only in dragging it out from behind the counter so I could actually plug it up to see what'd happen -- even moreso by considering (and agreeing to) my slightly lower price 'offer' after I'd done so. BUT WAIT -- there's more -- by the time it got to my credit card at the cash register Bruce did me EVEN BETTER... turns out the machine seemingly had just the right 'color code' price tag on it, so even though he technically rang it up at full price, I brought it home for HALF PRICE instead??!!!
    <woo-hoo><cheers><applause><general merriment>

I'm only BARELY into the discovery process of what it truly IS, beyond a Japanese built (I think) machine, probably not too terribly old, maybe made for some variety of commercial service but now seemingly (according to labels inside) having been 'remanufactured' (by a company in Rochester, NY) for home usage. I'm also only barely into the process of *playing with it* in order to determine if it really *works* -- all I can say for sure at the moment is that it powers and lights up as if it *wants* to work though I haven't yet figured out how to get its wheels to spin...it might (please?!) just be a matter of a "reset" process I haven't found yet.

Here's a YouTube video of what it is *supposed* to do, anyways...?

---------EDIT a week later, for additional information--------

The learning continues?!! :-) This is what's called a "PACHISLO" machine. They are apparently quite popular and commonly found at arcades in Japanese cities (along with "PACHINKO" vertical pinball machines) and differ from more typical 'slot machines' in that their reels, once spinning, are stopped individually by the player (via the 3 large buttons immediately under them, which light up in 2 different colors during play) instead of automatically by the machine itself. THIS distinction gives them the (legal, anyway?) qualification of being a "game of skill" vs. "game of chance".

This particular model was manufactured in 2002 and has a 'dance party/rave' theme. It seems (fortunately!) to be a rather USA-friendly design (for whatever reason?) since its essential functions/etc are labeled in English (lots and lots of Japanese too) and its 'voice' also speaks English. Yup -- in addition to a *wide* variety of sound effects while in use -- it also plays music and 'talks'. The small red display panel immediately to the RH side of its reels is another unique feature of this model (I guess?) that is actually a LED matrix which shows various moving patterns/scrolling letters/etc while the game is in play, also occasionally becoming 'part of the game' in some certain kind of 'bonus mode' I haven't discovered yet.

And yes, as I've already added to 'comments', I'm currently awaiting a few hundred more tokens for it in order to truly begin to put it thru its paces and find out what all it does -- but for the moment anyways it seems like it is gonna work JUST FINE?!! <applause>

    ----------2nd EDIT another week later----------

My package of 'authentic vintage' tokens arrived right on schedule last week, and I am now more than happy to report that my CLUB RODEO indeed seems to be in *completely functional condition in every respect*, even as I continue to actually learn 'how to play it' along with further details of 'what it is/how it works/etc/etc'. [another thing learned accidentally...it ain't quite easy to hold a phonecam taking video steady with one hand, while playing a slot machine with the other...?? <lol>] I've added a post for the tokens themselves here:

    https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/263129-23-different-pachislo-game-tokens-and-a?in=user

Here's today's related little 'happy fact' -- on a return visit to the same GW store, Bruce was behind the counter when I checked out so I asked him if he remembered me...he didn't until I also mentioned 'slot machine'. THEN he remembered and immediately asked if I'd got it working - when I smiled and answered YES we chatted a little bit more during which time he reached under the counter with an "OH, you should have these too", coming up with a little bagful of ~50 more tokens which were apparently ones that 'got loose' from my machine (or the other two they'd also sold the week previous in "working" condition for much more $, which I never saw...that's probably a good thing too?!!) while it/they sat there. When I showed him the shaky phonecam video he grabbed one more manager-type dude to stop and look too (who also immediately went to grab the bag of tokens for me until Bruce told him he'd already done so?!) and both seemed genuinely happy for my outcome with it. Whadda y'all know...one would expect a FREE BONUS from a slot machine every so often I guess, but not so much from a Goodwill Store...??!! <LOL>

      THANKS SO VERY MUCH TO: MALKEY, Brunswick, jscott0363, EJW-54, fortapache, blunderbuss2, & elanski for your your WAY fun comments and <love it>s!!! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

There's GOOD NEWS to report -- with the info/knowledge gained from a kinda general 'owner's manual' for machines like this (oh-so-kindly sent to me by a friend on another 'collector's forum' I belong to after I also bragged there about having found it) it seems as though this one actually WORKS JUST FINE?!!

Whodathunkit...learning how to (properly) "reset" it, plus actually knowing what all its various knobs/buttons are supposed to do, really *did* make a difference?!! <ROTFLMAO>

[...now I guess I'm actually gonna havta order a bagful of more 'tokens' for it from those people in NY, so's I can really start to actually "play" with it from its outside...?!!] ;-) :-)

I've just added some further 'background info' about this machine to my original description. Can't wait to actually have enough tokens to load it up with, so I can sit down and play it until I win a JACKPOT?!! :-) :-) :-)
