This is a shout out to CW user vetraio50 who recently posted a beautiful Nerikomi vase. I'm indebted to him for naming the technique used to create it in his post (Nerikomi, also known as Neriage, or agateware).
I've had a piece of Nerikomi pottery for years (but didn't know the name of the technique). I picked it up in a gift shop on one of my many road trips over the years.
I remember seeing it, and thinking it was nice, but wasn't awestruck until I turned it over to look at the back, and realized that the image wasn't painted on, but rather had been created using different colors of clay wedged together, and went clear through the piece.
