I know it is Gorham but I was trying to find the year ? And does it have a pattern name ? Also, quality wise it is real silver not plated ? What would it be considered veg bowl, center piece ?

Sterling means real silver and not plated. Depending on size it might be a wine coaster or if large might well be a charger. Fabulous Find.
Anything marked sterling is .925% silver. Right now .925 is selling st $11.81 a Troy ounce so depending on the weight it certainly has a value even at scrap silver prices. As an example last month it was $12.16 and I sold 12 sterling spoons and collected almost $300. Some stuff is simply scrap while other items such as this might have a greater value on the collector market or antique market.
I had a quick look online and found a number of Gorham the same basic shape but different designs. They were called sandwich plates and depending on the diameter they had very high asking prices. All regardless of diameter were in the hundreds as asking price. You might well be wise to continue research on this item.
Looks like the last picture has the bowl standing upright against something, A size and another image of the whole base would help us.

925 vs 950 Sterling are they the same ??
.900 is coin silver, .925 is sterling silver, .950 is not sterling just a step up from sterling and .999 is bullion silver. There is also .800 but not common.
Jrgtwocreek The numbering is simply the silver standard that indicated the purity of silver. .925 would be 925% pure same as the K standard for gold 10k, 14k etc. The numbers just refer to the purity of the metal in question
Thank you . I know absolutely nothing about any of this I have ! Ive inherited boxes upon boxes of Gorham / Tiffany silver . Then I have 14 boxes of fine china which I know I don't want but Ive really got to do some hard research because Same here don't know a thing about it.
I just added a new picture of it flat on a table. I measured it 11" across 1.5 " tall

I have another gorham piece right next to me that measures 9.5 across says Gorham 252 on the bottom. I goggled that and the exact bowl came up . It was for sale on ebay said it was 252 g. The bowl Im in question about is much heavier than the 252

Rivertrout .950 usually sells for about 30 cents a Troy ounce more than .925 sterling. If you weigh it keep in mind it is traded by the Troy ounce which is different than a liquid ounce etc. a regular ounce. One regular ounce is 28.35 grams, while a troy ounce is 31.1 grams. The difference becomes important as you go to sell. If you weigh as a regular ounce you won't be happy when a buyer calculates a Troy ounce. Always be aware of that and if you buy a scale be sure it weight both or at the least grams then do the math to calculate Troy ounces.
I think you should contact a reputable auction house and have them look 0ver your inherited estate pieces. Seems some may be very valuable, and if that is the case, the whole number of items are probably a mix, but with more items of high quality and value from the people who owned them. This would be a lot easier for you to deal with and get a fair price.
The owners of this site might help you with a location and an auction business, as well as some professional appraisals. This might not seem so, but we envy your good fortune.

It seems as though this is just consuming my time and when I have no clue whatsoever it only is making more frustrated.
