Hi Collector Friends,
I recently found this sash pin at a local thrift. It was quite dirty but I loved the enamel. I expected it to be brass, although in consulting Roseann Ettinger's book Popular Jewelry 1840-1940, I see they were also done in sterling. The color was so striking when I cleaned it that on a whim I tested it for 10k. It seems to test as 10k. I tried it twice and even tried scratching the back. I know this is not fool proof but I hope it is 10k. The pin is 2 and 5/8 inches wide, including the full length of the pin and 1 and 7/16" tall.
Very much in the Art Nouveau taste, beautiful !~
Great find!
I need to jump over to "fine" jewelry now and then....
Look what I missed!
Your thrift store finds are incredible!
I'm always whining about nothing but junk in mine.
Never would I find something this spectacular!
Great eye Maureen!
I'm glad you found it and have given it a good home :)
Hi Eileen, Thanks for the appreciative comment. Your comment made me smile, beacuse I feel the same way. After my favorite thrift closed 3 or 4 years ago, it is so rare to find anything. So I don't go as often as I used to and then again, I don't have the places I used to go. Even Goodwill has basically put everything online. But still every once in awhile, something escapes their notice:)
Excellent find.
I didn't realize so many had noticed this brooch and given it a love. Many thanks collectors for that click!
