Ms.Crystal…

In all my years of collecting D & E, I have never come across an umbrella figural...until now.
I believe it to be a very early piece, most likely 1950's. There are other figurals with all clear crystals, "the swan", and "the bird in flight", which I have had the pleasure of seeing, but this piece is new to me!
It measures 2.25 x 2.25 inches, set in silvertone. ( it"s very hard to tell, but the rosette in the middle is riveted to the bottom tier, making this piece two- tier.)
D & E started making jewelry in 1947, and it wasn't until 67-68, did the "Juliana" pieces come out with the hang tags.
But you do see the figure 8's, and set in rivets, which puts no doubt to the maker...D & E!
ENJOY!
UPDATE...after 19 days, Phoebe came home, a little slimmer, none the worse for wear, unlike her owner who, for 19 days, was inconsolable. But Happy ending!!!
Thanks Adele for first love :)
Broochman, to those who know D & E, there's "no doubt", right? even tho I have never seen this particular brooch before! And it doesn't have to be colorful to be pretty, huh?
Thanks so much for your continued support & knowledge, my friend!
Very nice Eileen - April showers bring May flowers!
Fantastic design, sensational !~
Eileen, such a nice find!
Thank you Mary...
As you know, California has gotten some much needed rain this year...
Hoping for April showers!
Phil, it is pretty cool, isn't it? I have looked everywhere on line & in books, can't find this piece anywhere... Might be the last one around!
MrsT. I was quite surpised coming across this piece. Like I said, I had to do a double take!
Surprise! Just keep looking....
Ah those rivets! A breathtaking D&E brooch, the baguette stones are lovely - sigh. All of it is sigh-worthy. I agree with your date. I wouldn't be able to walk away from this brooch.
So unusual! I know early 1950s saw a real obsession with white rhinestone jewelry, no colors then. Super find. Congrats!
Gillian, thank you so much for the kind hearted words! I too, love baguettes, and these are all crystal clear!
Yes, Maureen...
I do believe this is an early 50's piece. Old Hollywood glamour type. This isn't a WOW piece, but very special all the same. Thank you for your continued support, my friend!
And thank you for all the loves, dears. Sorry it took a few days to get back here. My daughter's 8- month old Siamese went missing, been on the hunt. No cat/ kitten yet!
My daughter is heartbroken. She saved this kitten, finding her in the street with two siblings, blind & sick at 5 weeks old. She was the only one to come home, now she's gone :(
