Picked up a Hubley #901 Power Shovel. I'll always use the terms "steam shovel", "steam roller", etc. like many old folks, but technically it's an excavator or a large back hoe.
It was cataloged in '62 with orange cab/black boom, the colors weren't specified in the'63-'65 catalogues. But the yellow/red colors, like this one, seems to be more common. It also came in the # 60 Construction Set in '62. It's about 17" long with the bucket fully extended to scoop. It has the same track chassis that was used on the bulldozers and front end loaders. It was missing the crank, but I fabbed one put of a coat hanger. I got it to scoop after figuring out the rough crank dimensions. I need to get a thicker 1/8" rod to make a permanent crank now that I've got the dimensions figured out. Might completely restore it after I get through restoring the ones I'm already backlogged on.

I call them steam rollers and steam shovels too. Got some photos around here of an actual steam shovel and roller.

There you go. I was going to post that tonight but it looks like I have already done that.
The steam shovel is real impressive, you had to be good to operate that old equipment. You didn't just push buttons and shift levers, they were true engineers.
