Bit of a mystery for me I have no idea what this tool is or what it's used for. There are no markings and it is not spring loaded. I have put it under the title of Sewing tools so do forgive me if I'm wrong.

It looks like a latch-hook tool. Back around the 1970s, making latch-hook rug wall hangings was popular. I had (or maybe still have) one.

I dont think its strong enough for a boot hook but Watchsearchers got it. Neil

Yes, latchhook rug tool. I have several here, quite common. They are a couple bucks at arts and crafts stores and about fifty cents at flea market. They seem to last forever unless you bend them which isn't easy.

I had thought these were made to repair pulls in knitted sweaters and such. The hook was inserted from the back side of a garment where a loop was pulled out. The loop was caught, the latch closed and then the loop was pulled to the back side of the garment

Apparently latch hooking is a craft in its self. You can make small rugs, wall hangings and pillows.
