You might call me a restless collector, once I have delved as much as I can o a specific artistic decorative category, I am compelled to continue in an appropriate direction. For me it makes sense. I have the latest publication by Mark Hill, and waiting for 2 more books.

This weekend I spent much time on Ebay Germany UK and USA, looking at Union Sklo glass and others, the mid century modern art glass category, highly influenced mainly by Murano, Scandinavia, and in a lesser impact the Chalet glass produced in Canada produced in Czechoslovakia.

This is the glass we grew up with and there is a feeling of coming full circle, after 50 years, and discovering the best there was to offer, with our point of view today.

I am posting two Klinger glass vases from his designs of the late 1950s early 1960s. His glass products appeal to me the most, understated, yet fresh, innovative and elegant.

On 23rd - I have edited this post and removed a Zemek design vase which had been attributed to Klinger on Ebay. I will compose another post for that one with appropriate information. Thank you CW members for providing the accurate information.

OOPS! I guess I better repeat my information about this post, which I have edited to remove the yellow design glass vase, as after much information coming my way, it seems it was designed by Zemek, and I decided this morning to do another post for the Zemek vase.

What is the tradition of making a glass vase based on the design of someone who is dead (prematurely). Do you call it by the designer's name, or do you call it by who did produce it at the furnace.

Did the designers in the Union Sklo make their own glass? I wonder.

My large blue-turquoise glass vase by Klinger arrived an hour ago, from my seller in Canada. It is an impressive 11.5 inches high, 3 pounds, and looks new. Very little wear. I plan to change those images as well for my own.

Thank you for the loves my steadfast CW members, always appreciated.

Hi there… just a small clarification. Sklo Union was an organisation which consolidated the pressed glass factories (such as Rosice, Rudolfova, Hermanova and Libochovice) in Czechoslovakia (excluding Jablonec) from 1965 until the fall of Communism. ZBS (Zelezny Brod) glassworks was not part of Sklo Union as its production was ‘hot worked’ (for lack of a better term on my part).

Thanks Anik, totally different world of glass making. Glad you can share some of your knowledge about it with me. Appreciate it.
