This 4 1-2"H x 6"W red glass mama bear was originally made in clear glass by New Martinsville in the 1940s then reissued by Viking Glass in 1985 in red for the Mirror Images company

What a sweet looking bear!
She's a very pensive looking bear, something to me suggests she's on edge- I think it's her slightly hunched pose maybe....Has she been separated from her cub?! Or perhaps she's perched on a rocky ridge in the middle of a river just quietly waiting for a salmon to leap up into her jaws!
I do love her deep wine colour which is very rich in tone, sort of like those wine gum sweets I think and it took me a second to realise where I am has a completely different date for Mother's day- but considering that May is the month to celebrate the Virgin Mary your dates make a lot more sense,.

Eileen yes this mama bear is undoubtedly looking for the smaller version Viking baby bear! Lovely comment & have a super Mom's Day
Right you are Lauren, this mama bear could be looking for her smaller version Baby Bear by Viking, or definitely has the look of hunting for her fish dinner in the water! The deep red color is only transparent around the nose and feet, so the color appears darker, and this is SUCH a heavy glass (probably leaded) piece, think when I bought it they said it weighed betw 2-5 lbs. Whenever you celebrate Mother's Day I hope it is lovely, and yes May is the month of Our Lady, the assumption feast I think? Wonderful comment as always, thank you so much :)
