This was made by a beau of my great aunt. She was a nurse in France in WWI. This is on a fabric I thought might be silk.. It is on the lid of a hope chest the beau made and wood burned beautiful images for her. I need advice on cleaning, restoring the fabric.

What a beautiful piece and woman ! It appears to silk to my eye also and I would say it will be quite fragile and in time deteriorate. I hope you can preserve it and keep the history of the piece with it also maybe taped to back . I would be reluctant to wash it .More a museum restoration question on cleaning . I hope you seek one out to help you . Thanks for sharing and welcome to CW
