Just completed the outside of this Martin Maier bevel top, it came out pretty good, I removed all the hardware and horizontal wood slats, the body of the trunk was easy to sand and stain ( dark slats ). I intended to replace all the horizontal slats as they were really chewed up on the end corners, however I decided to go a different route, I sanded the slats and in Martin Maier fashion I caped the ends of the slats with vintage tin that I had covering the bad ends, I also cleaned all the hardware and replaced everything with cut nails, I also upgraded the steel lock with a very nice brass one, I will start on the interior soon and post it when done, hope you like it, greendog.

That's a sure winner, love the way the metal came out on the slats. The color of the leather makes it really stand out. The right person found this one, way to bring it back.

Hell of a nice looking job. Not sure I would have the patients anymore to tackle it but I can certainly appreciate the work others do. Job well done.
