    How's this for colorful?
This D & E set has a lot going on...slim navettes, navettes, chatons, moon-glo stones, and, of course, corn kernal navettes. This design came in many different shapes for brooches, also necklaces, earrings, bracelets. The whole D & E collection is endless it seems...sigh. Also many different colors, such as greens & aquas. Ann Pitman is quoted on the orange color...." This color is rare for this design".
Huge brooch at 3.25 inches in length, with beautiful gold plating, indented rivets, joint & catch pin mechanism on brooch, figure 8's on earrings...definitely D & E. ( info for novices, I know most of you know this classic design) Also notice all navettes are open backed to let the color glow through!

Thank you MrsT. for your continued support!

Thanks Jenni, my collection is modest, but I'm trying to add. Just so hard to find pieces in good shape. This set is from a friend, "excellent condition", so I snagged it.

You are so right Ken! Orange is a rare color. I just saw this exact set in Aqua, but the navettes were all dark on the tips. What causes that besides age? I don't want it happening to any of my pieces. It totally ruins the look. are always here with wonderful comments. I thank you, my friend!

Mani... It certainly isn't your everyday color, but I'm glad it's a favorite of yours. It was so bright and cheery ( and in good condition), I had to have it. Thank you dear!

Mary, you nailed it! The color is "juicy", like ripe oranges. LOL!
Thanks for the smile, my friend!!

When I was ill I missed this masterpiece of Orange, one of the most beautiful orange pieces I probably ever will see and those navette cabochon brain made stones are just icing on this most beautiful cake, it really is a Vegas show stopper if ever you go there again !~

Also a prong masterpiece, I don't think I have ever noticed before in my life that the small stones only have 3 prongs in them instead of the customary 4, did you notice that ?
    11. Ms.CrystalShip Ms.CrystalShip, 1 year ago
Hi Phil, Oh, we are going to Vegas, just next year when all this “stay at home” business is over!
And what an eye! Those stones with the three prongs are as tiny as a pin head, no room for four, but yet they used them. The big round moonstones are riveted on, hence no need for glue. They are not going anywhere! The only time, I believe, D & E didn’t use glue was on the flower stems, using AB rs. Don’t quote me on that, I could be wrong, but I have yet to see a piece with all glued stones!! “I blame you”! Ha! It’s the other way around, you, my friend, has shown me the importance of prongs/ claws, they keep our stones safe.
I do have some pave’ set pieces, like my 60’s Fantasy Fish, by KJL, and my Polcini set, but sometimes you bite the bullet to get a hold of a piece that requires your attention, glue or not!
Thank you for loving my Orange “Brains” set! ( d & e collectors call these stones korn kernals, I like brains better!)
    12. PhilDMorris PhilDMorris, 1 year ago
On this set it does look like the brains are blowing big orange bubbles, I like that D & E liked to have more fun with colours than Sherman did !~
    13. Ms.CrystalShip Ms.CrystalShip, 1 year ago
      I did a type-o!
I meant to say, “the only time D & E USED glue was on the flower stems, using AB rs.
When are we going to be able to edit our comments!!!!
And yes, Phil. D & E was not afraid of color, but the Orange is rare, as Ann Pitman states in her book. Of course , there is a bracelet, necklace, and another brooch to this set. The curse of collecting D & E. There is always more...ha!
