This is an old Cosco chair / stool. It has a step stool under the chair that folds out. It is very neat. In one of the pictures is the sticker that it has on it. Any idea of year?

My mom had (has) that and she is 94 years young! I imagine she bought it sometimes in the 50's and it is still used in her basement.

We have this same stool in our kitchen. We use it all the time!

My mother had the same stool when we lived on a farm in Springfield, OH. It was nice and sturdy. It was made to last. I used to sit on it a lot. Ours was painted exactly like yours. Seeing it brought back memories of peeling apples in the kitchen sitting on the stool.

It seems this chair was pretty popular back in the day. I'm saving it until I get a bigger place so it can be used just like all of you have used it! Thank you for all the stories.

my grandmother had one, she passed in 2006 at 98 years young, now I have it but not to where I can take a picture of it, packed away in storage, maybe i can get a picture of it sometime soon :)

I have the same chair. I would like to know about it as well.

I have the same chair/stool, although mine is quite a bit more weathered and it is orange. Great idea though, it is pretty comfortable for metal and I love multi-functional things.

This is a great little stool/chair, and brings back fond memories of sitting in the kitchen where Mom had the metal cart on wheels that was also multi-functional. Thanks for the memories, Mrj303!

Yes those are good memories. I also have the cart. Happy collecting!
    11. cindyjune cindyjune, 13 years ago
Neat! I don't think I have ever seen the cart. Is it red as well?

Mid 50's. Many a haircut was delivered on our family's red and chrome
version. I had 4 brothers and remember tromping up those steps to get my crew cut.

I seen a green one the other day at an estate sale. The house was nothing but 1950s and 1960s things.
    16. cindyjune cindyjune, 13 years ago
Isn't it odd that an old stool can get so much attention? I guess quality lasts!
    17. SmartyPants, 13 years ago
It was bought within 2 minutes of the doors opening

I got one just like it at a garage sale for 20 dollars..
    21. cindyjune cindyjune, 12 years ago
What a great find delena610! When ever I see one of these chairs I go right back to the time when my "chore" was to help snap green beans for canning. The chair would be pulled right up to the sink so I wouldn't make too much of a mess. I participated in vegetable canning starting at age 5. Know what I am doing today? Canning zucchini relish and pickled beets! Canning has become a life long love for me. Thanks for your comment.

I love this step stool, my grandmother had one of these when I was a little girl and I learned how to cook using it, because I was too short to reach the stove. This brings back so many good memories. If someone has one for sale, please let me know.

Careful how you throw the term "antique" around as I remember my family having 1 in the 50's. "Early modern convenience", - like me.
    24. sarahjb60, 11 years ago
My family had one too. It was our hair cutting chair, among other things. It's from the early 1950's. Hang on to it! Cosco has started to make these retro chairs again and are selling like hotcakes for about $60. Yours is vintage and is worth more bc it was actually made in America!

We have one but it is in bad shape from sitting out behind the shed. It only comes out for use during fishing season. I sit on it to clean fish at a bench out back.
