Thanks for posting this stone and it’s name.....this may be the answer to a stone I found which has a carved-out round depression in the center of it.

Nutting stones are ancient prehistoric nut crackers used for break hard nits the hardest nut that were common in this time period were the black walnuts and some had a out soft shell that would had been cut so the inner shell would had been placed on the hole and a hammer stone that was round with a flat part would been hit hard enough to split the nut open leaving the inside to be eaten or used for a add to a meal i have another it is a cup stone that had another purpose some were used for herbs or games it all verys from the objects near they were found this nutting stone is hand done the markings are tool scratchings making the nutting stone a nice piece to display this one would been placed in the earth or around stones so it would stay in place as some they can be rounded flat bottom as this one would be around stones or rocks and dirt this is a early type of a nut cracker of this form this one dates back to early archaic as 12,000 near the middle ,12,500 history of the nut cracker prehistoric nutting stones
