    (222 items)

You won't believe this treasure hunting story, I will make it short.
I got hired to clean out a recently purchased property in exchange that I get to keep the contents.
This house is NASTY......as two men in their late 80's occupied the house for many years and both had Alzheimer's disease. The family did not know how bad they were.
Anyway, in the back of the garage and on the floor were cardboard boxes full of rat holes live wood roaches, silverfish and God knows what else. So, I held my breath and started digging out the mice nests so I could see the contents.
I have so many cool antiques from the guys first clothes given to him when he was born to his mother's High School graduation gift from her parents.
I just opened this box tonight thinking it was costume jewelry. Look at this necklace here! The little paper says it is not only 14k gold but it has real pearls, rubies, sapphires and emeralds.
Praise God! I didn't expose my lungs to that stuff for nothing and I'm so glad that the mice didn't eat the necklace.

All your work was worth the effort! I love that you saved all these items that had been precious to the former residents.

Watchsearcher what am I supposed to do with his baby teeth? I have a box of his baby teeth hahaha...and so many things like that from the 30's. Thanks.

Here’s something I did....it may not be possible in your case:
After both my parents died, I knew I would sell the property which they had owned since about 1960. They both had put their lives into that place; literally blood, sweat and tears!
I wound up with 4 of his teeth and had to decide what to do with them.
I felt like they were a part of him and they should stay there on the land. He loved that deer, foxes, birds, raccoons, chipmunk, squirrels and every sort of woodland creature lived in those woods and ventured into the yard every night.

On one of my last days there, I stood at the edge of the yard, talked to Daddy (hoping he heard), said a little prayer for him and threw his 4 teeth as far into his woods as I could.

I feel good about knowing a part of him is physically still there.

Here’s a suggestion for you: you have a beautiful yard so why don’t you pick out a special spot marked by a piece of yard art (or maybe a fairy garden) and give the old fella’s teeth a little burial ceremony there?

That's a great idea. That's what I will do, I will take them back to the house and find a special spot for them. Thank you so much. I couldn't throw them out so here they sit.

That is perfect. I believe that is the place he would choose- right there at home. Bless your heart for doing that.
