I found this while thrifting today. I call it a paperweight, but I am not sure. It is sign UPG 2008. If anyone can identify it, please let me know. * I was able to take a pic of the signature.

Maybe it's a base, for something that fits in the square hole, and not a round peg! :^D Interesting piece though raven! :^)

I was thinking it was a base as well. Thanks Bill.

      Bill...you’re funny, made me laugh!
Seriously though whatever it is, it sure is pretty. A base makes sense, but would certainly work as a lovely paperweight :)

It's kind of a Japanese Feng Shue two Koi Carp circling, like this:

      https://www.123rf.com/photo_122004293_stock-illustration-koi-carp-traditional-japanese-tattoo-vector-illustration.html

but I couldn't find any carved or molded piece like it! :^)

I saw the little Koi Carps and it is sign, but in Japanese. It hard to get a good pic of the signature. Thank you for the info, if I can get a good pic of the signature, I will upload.

So I added the signature, could anyone assist in identifying the language.

      raven3766, Beautiful.

I think I hit pay dirt with the LLGF part of the signature:

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liuli_Gongfang

      *snip*

The term “Liuli” first was appeared in the Western Zhou Dynasty as a reference to the lead-barium glass produced at the time. “Gongfang” originated from the Song and Ming Dynasties as a common word for workshop.

      *snip*

I can't quite make out all the detail in the chop, but it does kind of look like the chop at the wikipedia page:

      raven3766, You're welcome. :-)

Hey, every once in a while I get lucky, and something pops right up on a search.

They've got over two hundred pages of pictures at their website:

      http://www.liuli.com/en-us/search_resultI.aspx?_b=0&_ma=&_f=&_c=&_mo=

But if you don't have the time or patience for that, you could try contacting them:

      raven3766, You're welcome again. :-)

Did you put those translucent discs on the piece? If it came to you that way, it suggests that perhaps the side with the chop is meant to be the bottom (although I do see one translucent disc on the signature side as well), and the patterned side with the square depression in the middle would be the front.

Here's another angular one with a fish motif:
