This bowl sits in my lounge room close to a window, and beguiles me daily.
It is an exceptional piece of glass art, made by artist Tadashi Kudo (1955-). Kudo is known as Nao, and my bowl is signed Glass Nao, the name of her studio.
The bowl has been blown with fine layers of clear, blue, yellow and amber glass and measures 27.5cm in diameter.
Nao has then ground back the layers by hand to form a really wonderful modern style of cameo glass.
It is exciting and captivating, and rates for me as one of my best pieces of Japanese glass.

Magical is right! And what a fun piece, I can see how you could stare at it all day if you had the time. Can you feel the texture? It's sort of like Peter Max (or timothy Leary) haha Yellow Submarine style! But on the beautiful side!
    41. antiquerose antiquerose, 24 days ago
Now that is A+++++. Amazing as so many colors dancing together and blending into each other. You can not look at just one design in it, and it just grabs your eyes to mellow into ALL its beauty. Stunning piece !!
    42. racer4four racer4four, 23 days ago
It sometimes looks a bit trippy Sue!
You can feel the texture inside where Nao has ground back the layers, and I really like that because it shows the human touch to it.

Thanks Rose! It's a stellar piece in my collection.
I have come so far with Japanese glass, as you know :)
