I just bought this at a flea market in TN. Is this a reproduction or original do y'all think? I just bought it because I love Boston Terriers so much, so if it's a reproduction, I still love it .????

Reproduction. The original Hubley was item #331, two piece, held together with two screws, no opening under belly.

National also made this stop but the National #149 was unusual because it was held together with a bolt rather than a screw. B&H and others also gave making these a try but none that are original that I have seen have the bottom opening.

This will sound odd but look inside his ears for three letters. If nothing there use a small mirror and flashlight and look inside the body cavity for marking.

I have yet to find one with a complete opening below. When were these reproductions made? And yes, that is my Boston looking at the "fake" Boston lol

I don't see any numbers/letters anywhere on it, inside or out. :(

Being unmarked it is impossible to tell when it was made because they are still making them. Flea market vendors, discount stores etc. can buy them for $15 or $20 a dozen and turn a big profit. They sell them as antiques or originals when they know full well they aren't.

Though a reproduction, it's still nice. Reproductions can be a lot of fun to collect. I have a several reproductions myself. After all, it'll be vintage one day.

If I may ask have you put a magnet on this to see if it sticks?

      Yes, it does stick.
