Would love some input as to what these type of stones are called. I'm guessing that this dates back to the 60's or so. I'm wondering about the marquis shaped multicolored ones are called. This brooch is unsigned. I am wondering if it looks like a particular maker. Thanks!
Nice brooch, sorry I can't help you. It can be more recent.
Very pretty brooch...
If you need a technical term, the stones are called givre’.
This term is used for stones of two colors blended together, kinda like a marbleized look.
Your brooch looks to be 60’s-70’s. Made very well with the pin mechanism built in, called a “joint & catch”. As far as the maker, your guess is as good as mine, being there were 1000’s of jewelry makers in the last century. But just because it’s not signed, doesn’t make it less desirable . The jewelry I collect, D & E, never signed a piece, used hang tags that were always discarded....
I’m afraid I have to renege on my “term” for your stones. Though they do have two colors, they are not givre’ In givre’ stones the colors are more swirled together, to make a marbleized look. Your stones are two-tone. My mistake. Just look up GIVRE stones, and you will see what I mean......
Thanks for the information! I really appreciate it!
