This was one of the first drums I've ever bought as I'd been holding out for a good one. I can say that this is in fabulous condition, no dints or dings, the lid fits properly and seals tight.
I'm not sure the exact number it held, but judging by the size, I'd say it was designed to hold fifty cigarettes in it.
A great item for my collection.

How old do you guess it is? I'm no expert (like you are, obviously) but don't think cigs ever came in tins like that here in the USA...??

Only place I can find this tin is: Kuala Lumpur - Damansara. The cigarettes were first test marketed in NY in 1957 and never went over big, although they were sold in 55 other countries. Based on everything I have read from around the world I would say this may have been a promotional gimmick to try boosting sales at some point. Regardless the New York mark makes this 1957 or later. Now that being said, the Cigarette Labeling and Advertising Act of 1965 required all cigarette packaging to be marked with the surgeon generals health warning. Therefore if there is no warning on this tin it would date between 1957 and 1965. If there is a warning on the tin it is after 1965.
