Not sure what to call the case and not sure what sort of bird this is. Also no clue about how old it is. Looks like it got the shabby chic treatment.
The bird is about 4 1/2" long so that should give you an idea of size and scale as should photo #4. Dimensions of the case are 8" wide x 6" deep x 11 tall.
Also note this comes with a nest or possibly 2 nests, one on top of the other. I was able to separate the top nest from the bottom nest but not sure if that is how the birds built it or if it is two separate nests.
Haven't gotten any oddities/taxidermy for a bit but this is a triple threat with an interesting case, bird and nest.

Very alive looking bird, nice one fort - perhaps a goldfinch I'm guessing

Looks like a Goldfinch to me as well. It is very alive looking.

I have a similar case. Now, where to find a dead bird nesting? Headed outside now!
      (Just joking!)
Really DO find it interesting as we have similar birds, alive though, who frequent our feeders.

Thank you very much Newfld. Looks like some sort of finch yes.

Thank you very much Scott. Can't quite match the marking possibly not north American.

Thank you very much Watchsearcher. We have a reddish bird that looks similar.
